Proverbs 3:3-4
Welcome to Online Bible Studies
Today’s Bible verse is
Proverbs 3:3-4 (NIV)
3 Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. 4 Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.
Let’s read the verse in context:
Proverbs 3:1-10 (NIV)
1 My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, 2 for they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity. 3 Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. 4 Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. 8 This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones. 9 Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; 10 then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.
Today’s Quiet Time with God
We are encouraged to always hold on to love and faithfulness. Love and faithfulness will allows us to win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. I like the idea of having favor with God, I also like the idea of having favor with man. The next few verses in the context reading give us a clue of how to hold on to love and faithfulness. We need to live our lives “trusting in the Lord and leaning not on our own understanding”, we need to “fear the Lord and shun evil”, and we need to “honor the Lord with our wealth”. As we live for God, He will “make our paths straight”, “bring health to our body and nourishment to our bones”, and “fill our barns and our vats to overflowing”. Live for God today, hold on to love and faithfulness, you will be blessed as you do!
