Hebrews 10:24 (NIV)
24And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.
I have been considering this verse for the last couple of weeks now. I keep coming back to the same thought, “how much time do I really spend considering how to spur others on toward love and good deeds”? The writer of Hebrews thinks it is important enough that he encourages us to consider how to go about it. I have this idea that this verse is really the genesis of the Ministry of Encouragement. These sixteen words lay out the reason for undertaking a ministry that encourages people. The Ministry of Encouragement will spur people on toward love and good deeds. So, take this verse to heart and start encouraging. Be thankful for five things every day. Then ask God to show you or lead you to at least two people every day that you can encourage. The world has become a fearful, selfish place, and it is desperate to be illuminated by the Light of the world. Get busy encouraging and let your light shine in the darkness.
