Fifteen Minutes with God
Fifteen Minutes with God is designed to help you connect with God. Each of these videos is about five minutes long. We are going to use the prayer that Jesus taught His disciples as a guide for our prayer time.
Matthew 6:9-13 (KJV)
9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
We are going to use the videos to help keep us focused and give us a time reference. During the first video “God of Wonders”, we will use verses 9 and 10 to guide our prayers. Go ahead and start the video and then we will start our prayer time.
God of Wonders
v9 Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. – Take a couple of minutes to just worship God. He is our Father and He loves us. Thank Him for who He is and for what He has done.
v10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. – Take a few minutes to ask God for opportunities to help advance His kingdom. Remember that we are seeking His will for our lives. God let your will be done in my life, not my will.
These two verse should take you to the end of the first video. Now start the second video, “Sweetly Broken”.
Sweetly Broken
v11 Give us this day our daily bread. – Take a couple of minutes to ask God to provide for the needs of your friends, families, community, country, and world. Ask God for your specific needs.
v12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. – Take a few minutes to keep your accounts clean with God. Ask for forgiveness for any sin in your life. In prayer, extend forgiveness to anyone who has sinned against you.
Praying through these two verses should take you to the end of the second video. Once it is finished, start the third video, “You Never Let Go”.
You Never Let Go
v13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. – During these last five minutes, ask God to keep you on the right path. I would encourage you to pray on the armor of God during this time. The armor is found in Ephesians 6:10-18:
Ephesians 6:10-18 (NIV)
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.
Once you have prayed on the armor of God, remember that it is all about Him, for His is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen!
If you will make this a daily habit you will find that it will help you in your connection with God. Start with fifteen minutes and then let it develop from there.
