Psalms 4:8
Welcome to Online Bible Studies
Today’s Bible verse is
Psalms 4:8 (NIV)
8 I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.
Let’s read the verse in context:
Psalms 4:1-8 (NIV)
1 Answer me when I call to you, O my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; be merciful to me and hear my prayer. 2 How long, O men, will you turn my glory into shame? How long will you love delusions and seek false gods? Selah 3 Know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself; the LORD will hear when I call to him. 4 In your anger do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent. Selah 5 Offer right sacrifices and trust in the LORD. 6 Many are asking, “Who can show us any good?” Let the light of your face shine upon us, O LORD. 7 You have filled my heart with greater joy than when their grain and new wine abound. 8 I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.
Today’s Quiet Time with God
Today’s verse would be a good one to memorize for those of you who have trouble falling asleep at night. With all of the craziness going on in the world right now, it is sometimes difficult to put it all aside and sleep. The next time you are having trouble drifting off, try and turn off whatever it is you are thinking about, and remember this verse, “I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety”. It is more effective than counting sheep! Sleep well and be blessed!

Psalm 23:6
Welcome to Online Bible Studies
Today’s Bible verse is
Psalms 23:6 (NIV)
6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
Let’s read the verse in context:
Psalms 23:1-6 (NIV)
1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, 3 he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
Today’s Quiet Time with God
Today’s verse is part of what is perhaps the best known of all of the Psalms, Psalm 23. The 23rd Psalm provides great comfort. I think it is the combination of the amazing picture of a shepherd caring for his sheep and the fact that it is so familiar. Just reading it seems to flood my soul with peace and contentment. With that in mind, let me encourage you to read the Psalm again. You will be blessed as you do!

Colossians 3:1-2
Welcome to Online Bible Studies
Today’s Bible verse is
Colossians 3:1-2 (NIV)
1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
Let’s read the verse in context:
Colossians 3:1-17 (NIV)
1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. 5 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. 6 Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. 7 You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. 8 But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. 9 Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. 11 Here there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all. 12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. 15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Today’s Quiet Time with God
Today’s verse helps us to remember what is really important. We need to set our hearts and minds on “things above”, not on “earthly things”. Unfortunately, because we live surrounded by “earthly things” it is easy for them to become our focus. Make it your goal today to keep your focus on Jesus. Let His peace rule in your hearts and let His word dwell in you richly. You will be blessed as you do!
