Mark 13:32

Today’s Bible verse is
Mark 13:32 (NIV)
32 “No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
Let’s read the verse in context:
Mark 13:26-37 (NIV)
26 “At that time men will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. 27 And he will send his angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens. 28 “Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. 29 Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that it is near, right at the door. 30 I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. 31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. 32 “No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 33 Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come. 34 It’s like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with his assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch. 35 “Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back–whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. 36 If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping. 37 What I say to you, I say to everyone: ‘Watch!’”
Today’s Quiet Time with God
As I was preparing a study on Mark 13 I read today’s verse and it reminded me of conversations I have been having with people about the whole 2012 Mayan Calender end of the world stuff. When Jesus says, “no one knows”, except the Father, He means “NO ONE KNOWS”. Not the Mayans, not Nostradamus, no one. But always remember, as believers, that the end that so many people fear is something that we are all looking forward to because it signifies the return of Jesus Christ. Our prayer should join with the saints of the ages, “Come Lord Jesus, come”. Be at peace and be blessed!

Philippians 4:6 (NIV)
6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Let’s read the verse in context:
Philippians 4:4-9 (NIV)
4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things. 9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me–put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
Today’s Quiet Time with God
IWS. That’s my new phrase. I.W.S. It’s Always Something. Now its Swine Flu. The line between being cautious and informed seems to get blurred very quickly into fear. Current events are hyped by 24 hour news channels and people start to freak out. DON’T BE ANXIOUS ABOUT ANYTHING (swine flu, recession, etc), but in everything (including possible pandemics, corporate bankruptcies), by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. What do we do? Pray, and use a little hand sanitizer. Be blessed!

24 “No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.
Let’s read the verse in context:
Matthew 6:19-34 (NIV)
19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. 22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness! 24 “No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money. 25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? 28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Today’s Quiet Time with God
As difficult as the current economic situation is for so many people, it has sure clarified what you can trust. While we experienced years of a very healthy economy, it was easy to begin to trust in the economy and to fall into a belief that things would just keep getting better. Ooooops! What we have seen once again so clearly, is that the only thing that is unchangeable in our lives is God. Everything else can change overnight, but God is faithful and true. In today’s verses we see how important it is to make sure our trust and hope is in the Lord. As you read the context reading you also realize that when our hope and trust is in the Lord, we don’t need to worry about what might happen tomorrow. We may not know what the future holds, but we know Who holds the future!
