Remembering the People of Haiti
Today on God’s Daytimer I would encourage all of you to pray for the people in Haiti and to seek God for anything else that He might have you do. Today’s verse is about this very thing:
Galatians 2:10
All they asked was that we should continue to remember the poor, the very thing I was eager to do.
You should go and read the verse in context. Paul is explaining how he had been given the task of preaching to the gentiles and had been given the right hand of fellowship from James, Peter, and John. What I think we need to see in the verse that Paul was eager to help and remember the poor. I am sure that most of you are feeling the same way as you have the seen pictures of devastation that have come out of Haiti. As I have been praying I have also been looking for ways to help. I am suggesting a few ways that I feel comfortable with after quite a few phone calls to different agencies, etc. Perhaps you might consider one of the following:
Consider making a donation to one of the following agencies:
World Vision www.worldvision.org
Mission of Hope Haiti www.missionofhopehaiti.org
Or you give to the Red Cross by texting Haiti to the number 90999 from your cell phone.
In the future there will some opportunities for hands on ministry through Vineyard Mercy Response who plan on taking teams down once the initial crisis is under control to help rebuild churches and then to help those churches rebuild homes. Please continue to pray for God’s peace and comfort, power and mercy to touch the people of Haiti.
Proverbs 10:12 (MSG)
Welcome to Online Bible Studies
Today’s Bible verse is:
Proverbs 10:12 (MSG)
12 Hatred starts fights, but love pulls a quilt over the bickering.
Let’s read the verse in context:
Proverbs 10:1-21 (MSG)
1 Wise son, glad father; stupid son, sad mother. 2 Ill-gotten gain gets you nowhere; an honest life is immortal. 3 God won’t starve an honest soul, but he frustrates the appetites of the wicked. 4 Sloth makes you poor; diligence brings wealth. 5 Make hay while the sun shines—that’s smart; go fishing during harvest—that’s stupid. 6 Blessings accrue on a good and honest life, but the mouth of the wicked is a dark cave of abuse. 7 A good and honest life is a blessed memorial; a wicked life leaves a rotten stench. 8 A wise heart takes orders; an empty head will come unglued. 9 Honesty lives confident and carefree, but Shifty is sure to be exposed. 10 An evasive eye is a sign of trouble ahead, but an open, face-to-face meeting results in peace. 11 The mouth of a good person is a deep, life-giving well, but the mouth of the wicked is a dark cave of abuse. 12 Hatred starts fights, but love pulls a quilt over the bickering. 13 You’ll find wisdom on the lips of a person of insight, but the shortsighted needs a slap in the face. 14 The wise accumulate knowledge—a true treasure; know-it-alls talk too much—a sheer waste. 15 The wealth of the rich is their bastion; the poverty of the indigent is their ruin. 16 The wage of a good person is exuberant life; an evil person ends up with nothing but sin. 17 The road to life is a disciplined life; ignore correction and you’re lost for good. 18 Liars secretly hoard hatred; fools openly spread slander. 19 The more talk, the less truth; the wise measure their words. 20 The speech of a good person is worth waiting for; the blabber of the wicked is worthless. 21 The talk of a good person is rich fare for many, but chatterboxes die of an empty heart.
Today’s Quiet Time with God
I have been preparing for a new sermon series on love and as I was studying I came across this verse in the Message paraphrase and I wanted to share it with you. “Hatred starts fights, but love pulls a quilt over the bickering.” I think that is a great picture of love. Tucking someone under a quilt is often a sign of love and affection. To incorporate in this concept is a powerful example of what real love looks like. Love is not selfish, it looks out for others. My prayer is that you will know God’s love and will experience it today as He pulls His quilt up over you and tucks you in! Be blessed.
Have You Joined the Church Online?
I have an idea that I want to run by all of you who are so faithful in reading God’s Daytimer. I am planning on starting a “Church Online“. This church online will not simply be an extension of the church I currently Pastor, it will be a “new thing”. I envision it as more than just a place to come and watch or listen to sermons and Bible studies. I see it as people from all over the world connecting to encourage and pray for each other, as well as a vehicle for providing all types of ministry opportunities for everyone involved, in order to reach out to people every where with the Good News. I hope over time to have thousands of believers and non-believers from all over the world coming to see what is happening at the Church Online.
Before I jump headlong into the the project, I am asking for 100 people that will join up to pray for and be a part of the initial core group of believers what will serve as the foundation for the Church Online. I am hoping that many of you will be a part of this initial group. If this is something that you can do, just go to the new Church Online website. It is still very plain and simple with no bells and whistles. I don’t want to add all that stuff until we have the first 100 people involved. Once you are at the new site, you will see a place to “join” by subscribing to the free RSS or email feed. The counter of how many people have signed up is displayed as well. So far it is just me. Once we reach 100, we will start moving on really getting the Church Online started. If you can take a few minutes, please go check out the site by clicking here Church Online, or, the web address is www.internetchurchonline.com. Read the short article there and then sign up for the free email subscription. I look forward to partnering with all of you to advance the Kingdom of God!

Isaiah 40:30-31
Welcome to Online Bible Studies
Today’s Bible verse is
Isaiah 40:30-31 (NIV)
30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; 31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Let’s read the verse in context:
Isaiah 40:21-31 (NIV)
21 Do you not know? Have you not heard? Has it not been told you from the beginning? Have you not understood since the earth was founded? 22 He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in. 23 He brings princes to naught and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing. 24 No sooner are they planted, no sooner are they sown, no sooner do they take root in the ground, than he blows on them and they wither, and a whirlwind sweeps them away like chaff. 25 “To whom will you compare me? Or who is my equal?” says the Holy One. 26 Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing. 27 Why do you say, O Jacob, and complain, O Israel, “My way is hidden from the LORD; my cause is disregarded by my God”? 28 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. 29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; 31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Today’s Quiet Time with God
I know that I have used this verse on God’s Daytimer before, but it is such a powerful verse that I felt like posting here for all of us again. To me it is such a majestic verse, “Do you not know, have you not heard?”. I love that description! And the promise is amazing, “Those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Spend some time with God today and SOAR!
