Isaiah 6:8
Welcome to Online Bible Studies
Today’s Bible verse is
Isaiah 6:8 (NIV)
8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
Let’s read the verse in context:
Isaiah 6:1-8 (NIV)
1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2 Above him were seraphs, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. 3 And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.” 4 At the sound of their voices the door posts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke. 5 “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty.” 6 Then one of the seraphs flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.” 8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
Today’s Quiet Time with God
I love the imagery of today’s context verse. Try and imagine being Isaiah and walking in to a setting that is so glorious that you are so completely in awe that you can only cry out “Woe to me” because in the midst of God’s holiness you feel completely unworthy. I love the idea of the seraphs calling back and forth “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory”, as the door posts and thresholds shake and the temple fills with smoke. A seraph comes and touches Isaiah’s mouth with a hot coal from the altar and his sin is atoned for. When the Lord says, who will go for us Isaiah says, “Here I am, send me”!
Now that we have had our sin atoned for in Christ, and with the amazing privilege of having access to the throne of grace by His blood, we too should cry out to the Lord, “Here I am, send me”. Make that your prayer today, you will be blessed as you do!

Isaiah 40:30-31
April 9, 2008
Welcome to Online Bible Studies
Today’s Bible verse is
Isaiah 40:30-31 (NIV)
Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Let’s read the verse in context:
Isaiah 40:28-31 (NIV)
Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Today’s Quiet Time with God
This is one of my favorite verses. When life gets hard I think about this verse. It is such a powerful reminder of who God is. It is a powerful reminder of His love and concern for us. It is an incredible promise of hope. It is an incredible promise of strength. It speaks of all that we go through in this life, but reminds us that He will always be with us. Take some time today to read and reread these verses. Give thanks to God for who He is. You will be blessed as you do!
