Psalm 150:6
Welcome to Online Bible Studies
Today’s Bible verse is
Psalms 150:6 (NIV)
6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.
Let’s read the verse in context:
Psalms 150:1-6 (NIV)
1 Praise the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens.
2 Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness.
3 Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre,
4 praise him with tambourine and dancing, praise him with the strings and flute,
5 praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals.
6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD.
Today’s Quiet Time with God
I think that you probably get the point of today’s verse and context reading. “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord”! What does praise mean? This is the wiki-pedia definition: In Christianity, the word is understood as a command to either describe God or give a testimony of what God has done. Today, set aside some time to focus in on God and give Him praise. Thank Him for all that He has done in your life. You will be blessed as you do!

Psalm 118:1
Welcome to Online Bible Studies
Today’s Bible verse is
Psalms 118:1 (NIV)
1 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.
Let’s read the verse in context:
Psalms 118:1-29 (NIV)
1 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever. 2 Let Israel say: “His love endures forever.” 3 Let the house of Aaron say: “His love endures forever.” 4 Let those who fear the LORD say: “His love endures forever.” 5 In my anguish I cried to the LORD, and he answered by setting me free. 6 The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? 7 The LORD is with me; he is my helper. I will look in triumph on my enemies. 8 It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man. 9 It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in princes. 10 All the nations surrounded me, but in the name of the LORD I cut them off. 11 They surrounded me on every side, but in the name of the LORD I cut them off. 12 They swarmed around me like bees, but they died out as quickly as burning thorns; in the name of the LORD I cut them off. 13 I was pushed back and about to fall, but the LORD helped me. 14 The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. 15 Shouts of joy and victory resound in the tents of the righteous: “The LORD’s right hand has done mighty things! 16 The LORD’s right hand is lifted high; the LORD’s right hand has done mighty things!” 17 I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the LORD has done. 18 The LORD has chastened me severely, but he has not given me over to death. 19 Open for me the gates of righteousness; I will enter and give thanks to the LORD. 20 This is the gate of the LORD through which the righteous may enter. 21 I will give you thanks, for you answered me; you have become my salvation. 22 The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone; 23 the LORD has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes. 24 This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. 25 O LORD, save us; O LORD, grant us success. 26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD. From the house of the LORD we bless you. 27 The LORD is God, and he has made his light shine upon us. With boughs in hand, join in the festal procession up to the horns of the altar. 28 You are my God, and I will give you thanks; you are my God, and I will exalt you. 29 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.
Today’s Quiet Time with God
Today’s verse is a good way to start off this Thanksgiving week. Psalm 118 starts and ends with the same encouragement, “Give thanks to the Lord for He is good, His love endures forever”. This is a good week to think about what you are thankful for. We tend to spend time thinking about what we don’t have, or what we wish we had, rather than being thankful for what we do have. I want to encourage you again to take a few minutes to write a gratitude list. On this list begin to write down everything in your life that you are thankful for. Taking time to write a list like this will help you get a new perspective. The attitude of gratitude is a powerful thing in the life of a believer. Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, and you will be blessed as you do!

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Welcome to Online Bible Studies
Today’s Bible verse is
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NIV)
16 Be joyful always; 17 pray continually; 18 give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
Let’s read the verse in context:
1 Thessalonians 5:12-24 (NIV)
12 Now we ask you, brothers, to respect those who work hard among you, who are over you in the Lord and who admonish you. 13 Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other. 14 And we urge you, brothers, warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone. 15 Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else. 16 Be joyful always; 17 pray continually; 18 give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 19 Do not put out the Spirit’s fire; 20 do not treat prophecies with contempt. 21 Test everything. Hold on to the good. 22 Avoid every kind of evil. 23 May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it.
Today’s Quiet Time with God
People often ask me this question, “How can I know God’s will for my life?”. While the answer is never simple, today’s verse is certainly part of the equation. There are three things in these three verses that are identified as God’s will for us in Christ Jesus. Let’s see how we do!
- Be joyful always – Wow! Always? Seriously? It is only possible in Christ. Joy, real joy, joy that we find in Christ is something that we experience deep inside that is not dependent on circumstances. We often confuse “joy” and “happy”. Happy comes from the word happenstance which is like circumstance and is all about a feeling that is based on your circumstances all being good. That certainly doesn’t happen always. Joy is an internal thing that is based in Christ not on circumstances. It comes from our relationship with Christ and the knowledge that He loves us and we will be with Him forever.
- Pray Continually – Continually? I have a suggestion. Almost everyone spends a considerable amount of time worrying. In fact, I think a lot of people would be able to live up to the verse if it said “worry continually”. Take some of your worry time, and change it to prayer. Prayer has a lot more impact. Talk to God throughout your day, that is what praying continually is all about.
- Give thanks in all circumstances – Again, really??? Learning to be grateful is a process. We need to learn to be thankful for what we have instead of being consumed by what we don’t have. We have to remember that sometimes life is hard, but God is always good!
