Ecclesiastes 3:11

Welcome to Online Bible Studies

Today’s Bible verse is
Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NIV)
11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

Let’s read the verse in context:
Ecclesiastes 3:1-11 (NIV)
1 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: 2 a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, 3 a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, 4 a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, 5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain, 6 a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, 7 a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, 8 a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace. 9 What does the worker gain from his toil? 10 I have seen the burden God has laid on men. 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

Today’s Quiet Time with God

Ever have one of those days where it seems like everything is upside down? I was praying today and I thought about today’s verse and decided to make it the verse of the day. It is a wonderfully simple and profoundly comforting verse. “He (God) has made everything beautiful in its time”. I think that when everything feels all upside down, the problem is usually that God is not on my timetable. On His timetable, everything is right side up. For me, when its all crazy, the best thing to do is stop and spend some time with Him. Afterwords, while all of the circumstances are usually still the same, I am usually somehow changed. I think it has something to do with moving back onto His Daytimer! Be blessed.

I have an idea that I want to run by all of you who are so faithful in reading God’s Daytimer. I am planning on starting a “Church Online“. This church online will not simply be an extension of the church I currently Pastor, it will be a “new thing”. I envision it as more than just a place to come and watch or listen to sermons and Bible studies. I see it as people from all over the world connecting to encourage and pray for each other, as well as a vehicle for providing all types of ministry opportunities for everyone involved, in order to reach out to people every where with the Good News. I hope over time to have thousands of believers and non-believers from all over the world coming to see what is happening at the Church Online.

Before I jump headlong into the the project, I am asking for 100 people that will join up to pray for and be a part of the initial core group of believers what will serve as the foundation for the Church Online. I am hoping that many of you will be a part of this initial group. If this is something that you can do, just go to the new Church Online website. It is still very plain and simple with no bells and whistles. I don’t want to add all that stuff until we have the first 100 people involved. Once you are at the new site, you will see a place to “join” by subscribing to the free RSS or email feed. The counter of how many people have signed up is displayed as well. So far it is just me. Once we reach 100, we will start moving on really getting the Church Online started. If you can take a few minutes, please go check out the site by clicking here Church Online, or, the web address is www.internetchurchonline.com. Read the short article there and then sign up for the free email subscription. I look forward to partnering with all of you to advance the Kingdom of God!

Galatians 6:9-10

Welcome to Online Bible Studies

Today’s Bible verse is
Galatians 6:9-10 (NIV)
9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

Let’s read the verse in context:
Galatians 6:1-10 (NIV)
1 Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted. 2 Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. 3 If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. 4 Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else, 5 for each one should carry his own load. 6 Anyone who receives instruction in the word must share all good things with his instructor. 7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8 The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. 9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

Today’s Quiet Time with God

I have been sharing with you my current favorite life saying quite often here on God’s Daytimer. “Life isn’t fair, do the next right thing”. Today’s verse is an encouragement to keep doing the next right thing. “Do not become weary in doing good”. Why? “For at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up”. A harvest at the proper time is good motivation when life gets hard and we don’t FEEL like doing the next right thing. But as verse 10 reminds us, let’s keep looking for opportunities to bless people with simple acts of kindness. This helps us to keep a good perspective on what is important and to keep our focus on Jesus. Look for opportunities to bless others today, and you will be blessed as you do!

2 Peter 3:8

Welcome to Online Bible Studies

Today’s Bible verse is
2 Peter 3:8 (NIV)
8 But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.

Let’s read the verse in context:
2 Peter 3:3-9 (NIV)
3 First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. 4 They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our fathers died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.” 5 But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and by water. 6 By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. 7 By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men. 8 But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. 9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

Today’s Quiet Time with God

This verse sheds light on a lot of things. The biggest of which is that God is not bound by time. For us, everything revolves around time. We think in terms of beginning and end. What time does it start? What time does it finish? When did it start? What happened first? What time is it? Is it on time? How late will it be? Time! A time for everything. God, however, exists outside of time. He has no beginning and no end. He has always been. Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come. To the Lord, a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years is like a day.

When you read the verse in context you find out that people who are desiring to follow their own evil desires have started mocking God and His followers. “Where is this Coming of the Lord?” they ask sarcastically. People still do the same thing today. Justifying their sin and lifestyle they say that Jesus is just a crutch for weak people. What they don’t understand is that Jesus is coming back. He is waiting because of His grace. He doesn’t want anyone to perish, so He is waiting to give people a chance to come to know Him. Our part is to redeem the time that we have until His return. Look for opportunities to tell your family and friends and co-workers about the Lord. All you really need to do is share with them your Jesus story. What has He done in your life? Spend some time thinking about that today, then pray for an opportunity to share your story with someone. You will be blessed as you do!
